Goethe once wrote a poem called “The Critic” that contains these lines:
The soup might surely have had more spice;
The meat was ill-browned, and the wine wasn’t nice.
No one wants to be that guy! How do we balance the need to fix the things that need fixing while at the same time staying committed to . . . let’s say . . . a congregation? I address that conundrum here.
