It is with mixed emotions that I write to you that Charles Krysinski, our Director of Religious Education, will be leaving us in August.
Charlie has accepted an offer to enroll at the University of California Santa Cruz as a doctoral student in history, beginning in September. He has been offered full tuition remission and a stipend to continue his studies there. He will be joining a diverse group of interdisciplinary scholars concentrating in 20th century U.S. History and the effects of various diasporas on American cultural and intellectual production. I am confident that Charlie will make important contributions to the study of U.S. history and to liberation theory.
I have consulted with Charlie about the DRE job description and who he thinks might be best prepared to form a search team for a new DRE. Charlie pledges to help make the transition to a new DRE as smooth as possible.
Charlie writes: “The process of deciding to continue my education has been one remarkable for its internal conflict. I love my position as DRE and I feel myself to be very much at home at FUS . . .”
We will miss Charlie’s wit, intellect, and leadership abilities. Be sure to congratulate him as he begins a new adventure.
