Dakota 38 Discussion, 12:00 Noon. Come hear Gaby Strong, an enrolled tribal member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota Oyate and Mdewakanton Dakota, and one of the organizers of the Dakota 38 Horse Rides, which commemorate the Dakota warriors executed in Mankato in 1862. Gaby and her family have supported a process of reconciliation that has grown to include hundreds of people. Gaby will share her perspectives and experiences and lead a discussion about the important healing work the Ride promotes, for Native and non-Native people. Attendees are encouraged to watch the Dakota 38 film, but all are welcome to participate in the discussion. Additionally, FUS member Shelley Shreffler will talk about FUS’s involvement with preparing and serving the closing lunch for the Ride each year in Mankato.
