Child, Youth, & Family Programming

1st Sundays, 12pm to 1pm: Community Posters for Change

Join Zola and the youth of E2 in building community awareness for social justice! Encourage your child’s developing activism as we brainstorm and decorate posters for causes they care about; these can be displayed in home windows, on community bulletin boards, or around FUS. All ages are welcome to join us in the hallway outside the Lower Assembly Hall at 12pm, after Mini-Meal; poster paper, markers, crayons, and stencils will be provided.

3rd Sundays, 5pm to 7pm: Child & Family Dinners

Join us for child & family dinners in the Chalice Room! Our fantastic Kitchen Ministry team will provide the entree; feel free to bring any dessert, drink, or cold appetizer that you’d like. Please bring an index card describing your dish and any potential allergens. All are welcome; if you have any friends who you’ve been wanting to bring around FUS, this is your opportunity! Contact Zola or Christine Salm at to RSVP, notify us of dietary restrictions, or learn more.

Junior Journalist Program

The Social Justice Committee at First Unitarian Society is seeking youth photographers to report on FUS social justice projects. Join Zola, and our Media Content Coordinator Jacob, every 3rd Sunday after Assembly to discuss ideas and generate graphics, photos and videos to populate the E² Instagram page. To learn more and get involved, contact Dave Leussler!

OutFront Trainings

Looking to advocate for LGBTQ+ equity on a personal and community level? Interested in helping make FUS a welcoming place for all? Join OutFront at FUS in a series of quarterly trainings on topics such as Queer Theology,  Faith Community and Allyship, and more.

Multigenerational Space

Our new multigenerational space is now open in the Upper Assembly Hall! Children of all ages are invited to attend Assembly and utilize the quiet, calming activities and materials provided. Located along the window-side of the UAH; ask an FUS greeter to direct you!

Youth Humanist Meetups

Is your child or teen interested in meeting other like-minded youth in an interfaith, inclusive setting? First Unitarian and Or Emet are teaming up to offer Youth Humanist Meetups on a quarterly basis in 2025! To express interest in these fun, free, local outings, complete this form.

Recurring Family Volunteering Opportunities

2nd Sundays, 4pm to 6pm: Oasis Dinners at Plymouth Church

Our Kitchen Ministry team invites FUS members to volunteer at our regular Second Sunday Oasis Dinner held at Plymouth Church (Franklin and Nicollet) on the second Sunday of every month. Volunteers from FUS and St. Mark’s Episcopal arrive at 4:00 p.m. and help distribute food, clothing and personal care items, before descending to the dining area and helping serve dinner to around 85 guests. The presence of children and families adds so much to the evening as we practice ‘radical hospitality’ in the broader community under the flag of First Unitarian Society.
