Foundation leads Fundraising Effort to Fix the Bricks

Written by Foundation Director Catherine Jordan

Our “Home for Humanism,” the beautiful First Unitarian Society building at 900 Mt. Curve in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is in critical need of brick tuckpointing. The wear and tear on the facade must be repaired in the spring of 2025 or we will experience more damage and greater expense from deferred maintenance.

Fortunately, we have received an anonymous challenge grant of $40,000 toward the cost of the tuckpointing. The total for the project is estimated to be $80,000, so we are potentially already halfway there! The Foundation of First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis is launching a “Fix the Bricks” Challenge campaign to raise the additional $40,000 needed. We began collecting pledges on December 1, with the goal of having them fulfilled by April 1, 2025.  That is a significant amount that was not included in the current budget and given the loss of the school tenant and other capital needs, it will put undue pressure on our reserve funds to cover the costs.

Please join our generous donor and the FUS Foundation Board in contributing to this important project. We appreciate your commitment to making FUS a strong and healthy community. Your tax deductible contributions at any level will make this project possible. You can:

Thank you for your stewardship of the First Unitarian Society!

Sincerely yours,
