First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis looks forward to celebrating this special time of year together! Our Winter Solstice Celebrations are just a day away. Below you will find all the important details about the events: our program, the dinner menu, how to purchase tickets, ticket prices, livestream option, and the UU Animal Action Team’s pet food collection!
Winter Solstice Celebrations:
Friday, December 20th and Saturday, December 21st
- 6:00pm Solstice dinner and caroling in the Lower Assembly Hall.
(Ticket reservations required. Bring your own wine or beer, if desired. Menu below.)
- 7:30 Midwinter Revels program with music, poetry, a mummers’ play, and reflections in the Upper Assembly Hall.
(All are welcome! Free and open to the public. Childcare available as needed.)
- After the program on both nights, there will be desserts, hot chocolate, and folk dancing in the Lower Assembly Hall, a Yule fire on the patio, and storytelling in the Chalice room!
Solstice Dinner:
Our festive Solstice Dinner will include omnivore and vegan options. We have marked items gluten-free and/or vegan as appropriate on our menu below.

We will have two buffet lines set up for this year’s meal service – one will have the Chicken Marengo and the other the Zesty Lentil Loaf. Both lines include identical side items all of which are vegan and gluten-free.
Salad and bread will be on the tables. Sparkling cider will be provided with dinner. Bring your own wine or beer if desired.
All desserts are vegetarian, some are vegan, and there will be fruit and chocolate options for those who eat gluten-free.
Ticket Information:
Tickets are required for DINNER ONLY. Our seating capacity is more limited this year due to the space required for the buffet meal service.
Our Saturday dinner is sold out. At the time of writing, there are a few seats left for the Friday, 12/20, dinner. Early bird ticket pricing has ended. While they last, online ticket prices are:
- Adults — $25
- Kids/Youth (grades 12 and under) – FREE with purchase of at least 1 adult ticket
Purchase Friday dinner tickets here.
Can’t make it for dinner or dinner sold out?
We expect dinner tickets to be sold out by Friday but the earth-centered, intergenerational Midwinter Revels program, dessert, yule fire, dancing, and storytelling are all FREE and open to the public both nights. We hope many in the FUS community will still join us for the fun!
If you choose to stay after the Revels program, please consider a free-will donation to help cover dessert costs. A collection jar will be available.
Livestream Option
The Midwinter Revels program will be livestreamed at 7:30pm CST on Friday, December 20. To view remotely, go to https://firstunitarian.org/live/ or to the FUS YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@fusmpls.
UU Animal Action Team Pet Food and Supply Collection
Once again, the Seasonal Celebrations Team is collaborating with the UU Animal Action Team for their December Pet Food and Supply Drive. They are collecting the following items for the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center:
- Unopened and not expired pet food
- New or gently used pet supplies
A collection table will be available in the FUS gallery during both Winter Solstice events.
We look forward to gathering with you soon – Happy Winter Solstice!
