It’s time to ensure equal rights for women!
Women have been waiting and working since 1923 for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would formally recognize them and their equal rights. Ratification is a long process: 35 states ratified the the amendment, but it fell short of the 38 needed within the deadline. There has been a resurgence for an equal rights amendment since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. It has become clear that women needed clear and more explicit protections. Thus the proposal for Minnesota: “Equality under the law shall not be abridged or denied by this state or any of its cities, counties, or other political subdivisions on account of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age disability, ancestry or national origin.” If this version passes, it could go to the voters as a proposed amendment to that State Constitution in 2024. Please contact your senator and representative now.
