December Pet Food and Supply Drive

Support the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center This December!

By Theresa Zingery

This December, join us at First Unitarian Society (FUS) in making a difference for pets and their families in need. For the second year, we are hosting a Pet Food and Supply Drive to support the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center (NMPRC). Your generosity helps keep families and their beloved companion animals together, ensuring no one has to choose between feeding themselves or their pets.

This drive is sponsored jointly by the FUS UU Animal Action team and the Seasonal Celebrations Team.

Why Your Support Matters

Financial hardship can strike unexpectedly, and many families find themselves struggling to care for their pets. Some welcomed their animals into their homes before experiencing difficulties, while others rescue pets from challenging situations despite their own struggles. By supporting the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center, you’re helping keep these families together and ensuring pets receive the love and care they deserve.

Everyone deserves the companionship of a pet. This is what love and justice look like—help us keep these families whole.

About the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center (NMPRC)

The NMPRC is dedicated to keeping pets and families together by offering:

  • Monthly access to free pet food and supplies

How to Donate

What to Donate

  • Unopened, unexpired pet food
  • New or gently used pet supplies (toys, beds, leashes, etc.)

All donations will be delivered to the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center, which provides these essential supplies free of charge to community members in need.

Where to Donate

Throughout December, we invite you to bring donations to First Unitarian Society, located at 900 Mt. Curve, Minneapolis. Drop off your contributions:

  • Sunday mornings on a table in the Gallery
  • During the Winter Solstice events

Winter Solstice Events

Our annual FUS Winter Solstice Celebrations take place on Friday, December 20th & Saturday, December 21st.  Join us at 6:00pm for a festive dinner and caroling followed by our Midwinter Revels program at 7:30pm.  After the program, we’ll have dessert and there will be a yule fire, dancing, and storytelling to enjoy!

Tickets for the dinner can be purchased in person at FUS on December 1, 8, & 15 or online at: https://fusmpls.square.site. There is no charge to attend the 7:30 program and the activities that follow.

The donation table in the Gallery is most easily accessed through the Mount Curve entrance of the building. If you are entering through the Groveland entrance, you might want to take the elevator to the 3rd floor if your donations are particularly heavy.

The Seasonal Celebrations team is happy to collaborate with the FUS Animal Action Team once again after last year’s successful drive. Thank you for your continued support of this compassionate cause!
