Sharing the Bounty of the Harvest Season

By Karen Rowehl

The Autumnal Equinox – known as “Mabon” to the ancients – is the second of three harvest festivals in the pagan “wheel of the year.”  At this peak of the harvest time, we are called to share the ripeness and bounty of the season.  Our Fall Food Drive honors this tradition!

On Sunday, September 17th, when we celebrate Fall Equinox in our Sunday Assembly, we will collect non-perishable food items for a local food shelf.   The food collected will go to Masjid An-Nur, a mosque in North Minneapolis, so no pork products, please!  Suggestions for appropriate foods to donate are provided here:

After Assembly, attendees are invited to stay for our festive Fall Lunch.  Dave Leussler’s comfort-filled seasonal menu is sure to warm your heart:

Savory, Beefy Sheperd’s Pie (GF)
Savory, Leafy Sheperd’s Pie (Vegan)

Best Home-baked Brown Bread and Butter

Emme’s Great Green Salad with Garlic Maple dressing

Cinnamon Apple Crisp (vegan/GF)

We look forward to celebrating the bounty of the season together!
