In these times of challenge, the greatest sustainer for people on the margins of society is to understand and be conscious of the ties that bind us to one another. The greatest temptations are to disengage, objectify, or reinvest in hatred and anger. For the marginalized, there is a greater call to remember where we have been and how we got here, and to cast a vision going forward. For indigenous communities, LGBTQ+ people, those in poverty, the undocumented, people of conscience, these times are all too familiar. What is it that sustains folks at these intersections of identity?
