Even as so much in our world has proved to be impermanent and unpredictable, the wheel of the year continues to turn in its time-honored way and thus serves to ground us during this unsettling pandemic. For many, the onset of autumn prompts us to reflect on the gradual closing of the season of growth and reminds us that we reap what we sow. In anticipation of the coming cold and quiet, we would do well to fortify ourselves by giving thought to the challenges — and opportunities — ahead.
