First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis looks forward to celebrating this special time of year together! Our Winter Solstice Celebrations begin just one week from today. Below you will find all the important details about the events: our program, the dinner menu, how to purchase tickets, ticket prices, livestream option, and – new this year – the UU Animal Action Team’s pet food collection!
Winter Solstice Celebrations:
Thursday, December 21st and Friday, December 22nd
- 6:00pm Solstice dinner and caroling in the Lower Assembly Hall.
- 7:30 Midwinter Revels program with music, poetry, a mummers’ play, and reflections in the Upper Assembly Hall.
- Desserts & hot chocolate in the Lower Assembly Hall, a Yule fire on the patio, and:
- Thursday, 12/21 – Storytelling Circle in the Chalice Room and instrumental music in the Lower Assembly Hall
- Friday, 12/22 – intergenerational folk dancing in the Lower Assembly Hall
Solstice Dinner:
Our festive Solstice Dinner will include omnivore and vegan options. All sides and desserts are vegetarian. We have marked items gluten-free and/or vegan as appropriate on our menu below.
Sparkling cider will be provided. Bring your own wine or beer if desired.
Livestream Option
The Midwinter Revels program will be livestreamed at 7:30pm CST on Friday, December 22. To view from home, go to https://firstunitarian.org/live/ or to the FUS YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@fusmpls .

In Person Ticket Sales
Our final in-person ticket sale at FUS will take place on Sunday, December 17th. We accept cash, check, or credit card.
Early-bird prices (Dec 1 – Dec 18 at 8pm)
- Adults — $20
- Youth (grades K – 12) — $8; discounted to $4 each for 2 or more children
- Pre-K — FREE

You can purchase your tickets online for the Early-bird prices above until 8:00pm Monday December 18th.
After that, ticket prices online and at the door will be:
- Adults — $25
- Youth (grades K – 12) — $10 (no discounts for multiple children)
- Pre-K — FREE

Tickets at the Door?
We base the amount of food we purchase on ticket sales, so only a small number of tickets can be sold at the door. If you wait to purchase tickets at the door, we cannot guarantee you will be able to attend the meal even if it looks like there is table space available. PLEASE purchase your tickets in advance!
Can’t make it for dinner?
Ticket prices for both events are based on dinner participation. As always, members and friends of the FUS community are welcome to attend the Midwinter Revels program in person, which starts at 7:30pm, without purchasing a ticket. For those choosing to arrive after dinner, if you decide to stay for dessert and dancing, please consider a free-will donation to help cover costs for dessert and for Friday’s paid dance caller. Collection baskets will be available.
UU Animal Action Team Pet Food and Supply Collection
New to our celebration this year is the opportunity to participate in the Pet Food and Supply Drive organized by the UU Animal Action Team! They are collecting the following items for the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center:
- Unopened and not expired pet food
- New or gently used pet supplies
A collection table will be available in the FUS gallery during both Winter Solstice events. Since this is the first time we have had a collection at Winter Solstice, you might want to set a reminder or write yourself a note to grab your donation before you drive off to join the festivities that evening!
